The wilder, the better

Our primary ingredients grow wild and pure, right here in our mountains. These are the ingredients that we distil into a 100% pure, natural essential oil. We’ve had it certified: Guaranteed organic. And even more important to us: A guarantee that it has grown in the wild.

Our classic: 100% pure, natural mountain pine essential oil. Here in the Sarntal Valley, the local people have been distilling this oil for over 100 years, and we ourselves have been making it for over 50 years. Mountain pine oil is a staple of every medicine cabinet in every home.

And no less important: Relaxing Swiss stone pine, for a good night’s sleep.

Today, the mountain pine oil distillery produces seven precious coniferous oils, all certified organic: mountain pine, stone pine, spruce needle, larch, fir, white pine and juniper. Each of these oils has soothing properties and precious ingredients that instil body and soul with the breath of the mountains.

From May to October, we offer guided tours of our distilleries to all member of the public who are interested and explain our production methods and the properties of our 100% pure natural essential oil.

Christine Moser Eschgfeller offers guests an insight into how “Kneipping” can give you a burst of vitality-boosting freshness that is easy to achieve at home.

On request, we organise a number of workshops for companies, groups and all interested parties.

What are essential oils?

Essential oils are obtained through the steam distillation of a botanically defined plant.

They are the smallest drops of oil of a plant, which are formed in the oil ducts and create the scent that attracts insects and keeps other animals at bay. They are not water-soluble, but dissolve well in fatty oils, cream or honey. We extract our oils through steam distillation.

Firstly, the chopped plant matter is loaded into the alembic column; the steam then flows from the base upwards, extracting the essential oil from the oil ducts of the plant on the way. The steam, which consists of both water and essential oil, cools down when it passes through the condenser; once it has cooled the two parts separate and the 100% pure, natural, essential oil is extracted by means of a Florentine vase. The filtration phase removes the last of the dust particles.
The water which remains after distillation contains traces of essential oil and is known as a hydrosol, or floral water.

The effects of essential oils on our bodies

Essential oils are extremely powerful plant extracts and, as such, should always be used in very small doses.
Because of their liposoluble properties, essential oils are easily absorbed by the skin and mucous membranes of the body and subsequently transported to every organ by the blood circulation.

When inhaled, essential oils stimulate the brain, and work on an emotional level.

How to use our essential oils

Room fragrance: (Aroma lamps, aroma stones, aromatic woods or electric), approx. 4-6 drops in an aroma lamp
Bath essence:  As essential oils are not water-soluble, you will need an emulsifier, e.g. 50 grams of salt added to 5 drops of essential oil
Massages: To make a massage oil, add approx. 20 drops of essential oil to 100 ml of base oil, e.g. almond oil
